SAFETY ANALYST

After 60 years of continued design, construction and operations of the sewer system and treatment plant, we now have 400 plus employees serving residential, commercial and industrial customers in 83 communities throughout Allegheny County.
Position Summary
The Safety Analyst is responsible for assisting the Manager of Safety through performing a variety of tasks related to the Development and Administration of the Authority’s Safety Program.
Job Duties
• Responsible for the development and revisions of safety programs/policies to ensure compliance. This will include an implementation plan and communication of key changes to applicable departments.
• Reviews safety performance through utilizing data from auditing, incident investigations, observations, and inspections. This will include developing summary reports with recommendations based on identified trends.
• Oversees internal safety auditing to ensure compliance with internal safety programs/policies.
• Maintains compliance records for fire suppression systems, pressure vessels and fall protection equipment. This will include the scheduling of required inspections.
• Oversees the development of safety training material and maintenance of records. This will include the development of an annual training plan and coordinating trainings to ensure compliance for employees based on job qualifications.
• Responsible for benchmarking other industries to identify best practices for improving the safety within the organization.
• Oversees the safety portal for employees to access safety information such as forms, policies, and training materials.
• Oversees the various safety management databases for injuries, gas detection equipment, inspections/audits, chemical inventories, and trainings.
• Assists with incident investigations root cause analysis for identification causes and correctable opportunities.
• Supports a positive safety culture through the engagement with employees at all levels.

• 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
• National Fire Protection Standards
• Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Some / Limited knowledge of:
• PA Department of Labor and Industry Regulations including Workers Compensation and Occupational and Industrial Safety
• 29 CFR 1904

Minimum Education Level Required
Bachelors’ Degree in Safety Science or a closely related field.
Minimum Experience Required
Five (5) years Safety experience in a professional environment.
Required Certifications / Licenses
ASP and/or CSP Certification is preferred
